Caicedo isn't just a great cup of coffee. It's the result of a community that refused to let extraordinary coffee go unrecognized.
Grown in the misty mountains of Caicedo, Antioquia — at altitudes between 1,950 and 2,100 meters above sea level — this washed coffee is produced by the small family farms of Aprokafe, a producer collective built from the ground up by farmer Elkin Diosa. Where other farmers in the region once sold their harvest at government-mandated commodity prices, Aprokafe opened a direct channel to the specialty market, giving Caicedo's growers fair recognition for the quality they had always been producing.
The result is a coffee that scores 84+ with the Specialty Coffee Association — and earns it.
In the cup: Clean and balanced with notes of milk chocolate, honey, yellow fruit, and a smooth vanilla finish. Medium-dark roasted to bring out its natural depth without masking its clarity. Brewed black, it's deeply satisfying. As the base for a latte or cappuccino, it's outstanding.
The bean: Varieties Castillo, Colombia, and Caturra — classic Colombian cultivars grown slowly at high altitude, processed with a traditional washed method that lets the terroir speak clearly.
The impact: Every bag supports Aprokafe's buying center, which provides quality control infrastructure, agricultural training, and skilled employment opportunities for the youth of Caicedo. The farmer receives 20% above standard fair market rate — because great coffee deserves great pay.
